CFP Software puts 'safe'ty first

CFP Software, the UK's largest supplier of property
management software, has offered its support to a new
Government-recognised mark to help consumers identify where they should place their
business and be protected – SAFEagent (Secure Agent Fully Endorsed).
The SAFEagent campaign
helps to protect landlords’ and tenants’ money by allowing them to identify
which letting and management agents are covered by client money protection
schemes – therefore keeping their business and money safe. Agents, using CFP’s
software, who sign up to display the SAFEagent logo, will hold clients’ money
in completely separate client account from the operating funds of the firm.
It is fast becoming
recognised as the mark to look for to take the risk out of the rental
sector. It has already been recognised by the Government and key
industry organisations such as Shelter, NUS, Trading Standards Institute,
Council of Mortgage Lenders, Residential Landlords Association, The Property
Ombudsman and the British Property Federation.
Mark Goddard, Managing Director of CFP,
commented: “We're delighted to throw our support behind this campaign and will
be looking to raise awareness among our clients that the SAFEagent mark is an
essential requirement for all professional lettings and management agents. The mark represents integrity and protection
for landlords’ and tenants’ money and we are thrilled to be in the vanguard
that will rid the sector of unscrupulous agents.
“This, along with our
recent accreditation renewal from the ICAEW, should give all our clients
extreme confidence in our software products and the services we provide.”
CFPwinMan is the most widely used lettings and property
management software package across the UK and is already installed in over
3,000 businesses, with tens of thousands of users. CFPwinMan is also the the
first, and currently remains the only, property management software to be
accredited by the ICAEW.
SAFEagent has been set up
‘by the agents for agents’ and a group of well-known firms in the sector are
behind the initiative. In the wake of a
series of high profile media cases, where lettings agents have absconded with
client funds, the SAFEagent mark offers peace of mind to landlords and tenants.
SAFEagent has reported a
massive uptake with over 1,200 agents immediately subscribing since the launch
a month ago.
Nick Cooper, MD Northwood
and Chair of the SAFEagent Steering Group, commented; “Consumers want and
deserve protection, and SAFEagent does just that. We're thrilled that CFP is willing to support
the campaign, marking a key step towards ensuring that in the future the
SAFEagent mark will be the mark of choice when dealing with a lettings and
management agent.”
