CFP Software Call For Agents To Use SMS To Improve Efficiency
CFP Software, the market leader in lettings and property management software, is calling for all letting agents to make more use of the SMS facilities within its CFPwinMan package.
Using SMS through CFPwinMan can provide an agent with several advantages, such as cost saving. An SMS costs less than a phone call or a stamp as it is just 10p per message through CFP’s text messaging provider. Also, in most instances, agents will be able to communicate just as much information as they would have if they had called or sent a letter.
Not only is it cheap, but, through CFPwinMan it’s all automated.
Using SMS through CFPwinMan is very quick and efficient - one click can send a message to multiple recipients all at once, such as sending one message to all tenants in arrears all in one go, or to tenants when their rent is overdue. Landlords can also be contacted via SMS when repairs have been completed or to inform then when their rent has come in, for example.
Using SMS is more discreet than a phone conversation, making it the ideal form of communication at times when a client doesn’t want to be overheard or cannot take a call. It is often less time-consuming to send an SMS than to make a phone call or send an e-mail to applicants when a matching property becomes available; or to landlords to inform them of the marketing progress of vacant properties; or when an investment opportunity arises.
SMS is a store-and-forward service, so when an agent sends a text message, the message does not go directly to the mobile phone. The recipient’s mobile doesn’t have to be active or have a signal to send a message, as it is stored in the SMSC (short message service centre), for days if necessary, until the client turns his/her mobile phone on or has a signal, at which point the message is delivered.
This could be useful when agents want to make sure the messages get delivered, for example when sending an SMS to contractors that are returning keys.
In addition to person-to-person messages, SMS can be used to send a message to a large number of people at a time, either from a list of contacts or to all the users/clients within a particular area, such as sending details of a property to a number of potential tenants without having to re-enter the message each time.
Mark Daruvalla, Managing Director of CFP Software, comments: “SMS facilities provide so many uses for letting agents, but traditionally they have under- utilised this type of functionality in the past.
“We believe our SMS service will provide an easy-to-use, efficient and cost-saving way for agents to contact their tenants, landlords and applicants and we are confident that many agents will take up this service once they see the benefits it can bring to their business.”
